Bloom Gymnastics Class Objectives
At Bloom Gymnastics, every session begins with a 10-minute fun and easy warm-up to prevent injury, followed by a short cool-down stretching session to relax and rejuvenate the muscles.
Vault Skills:
Running Drills/Vault Preparations:
Side stations: pike sitting with running arms, high knee robot walking, box jump onto a small block with a step-down jump, skipping with a rope.
Preschool: Squat on, forward roll.
Year 1-2: Squat on, forward roll or dive roll.
Floor Skills:
Handstands:
A variety of handstand progressions, including bunny hops, one-legged bunny hops, spider handstands, tick-tock handstands, and more.
Preschool: Bunny hops and forward rolls on the bench.
Year 1-2: Forward rolls, Handstand forward rolls, and tick-tock handstands.
Beam Skills:
Balance and Coordination: Basic walks, tiptoe walks, and side-stepping for younger gymnasts.
Preschool: Straight jumps and basic balance exercises.
Year 1-2: Basic leaps, kicks, and turns on the beam.
Bar Skills:
Strength and Swinging:
Introduction to bar swings, hanging positions, and basic grips.
Preschool: Tuck hangs and monkey swings.
Year 1-2: Front support, casting, and swinging.
Rings and P-Bar Skills:
Upper Body Strength and Control:
Basic ring holds and swings to develop upper body strength.
Preschool: Tuck holds and swinging.
Year 1-2: Basic ring supports and swinging in tuck or pike position.
Tumbling Skills:
Dynamic Movement and Precision:
Fundamental tumbling skills like rolls, flips, and handsprings.
Preschool: Basic rolls and bunny hops.
Year 1-2: Progressions to handsprings, cartwheels, and round-offs.
Mini Trampoline Skills:
Jumping and Landing Techniques:
Basic jumps and landing drills to develop coordination and spatial awareness.
Preschool: Straight jumps and tuck jumps.
Year 1-2: Seat drops, swivel hips, and half-turns.
AirTrack:
Cartwheel Preparations and Technique Work:
Side-to-side bunny hops, spider handstands with legs in straddle, rocking in a star shape, and cartwheel mat work using spots.
Preschool: Imaginative jumps and basic cartwheel preparation.
Year 1-2: Shape jumps and cartwheels.
Each session is structured around circuits that allow gymnasts to practice these skills multiple times, gradually refining their technique and building confidence. Mastery of these skills requires consistent practice, often over weeks or months.
The final session of each term is a celebration of their hard work, featuring fun games and challenges that reflect the progress they’ve made throughout the term.
